MÍCHEÁL Ó GRUAGÁIN
Equity Status: Full
Micheál is a Clare native, living in Dublin since his twenties. He was a founding member of Aisteoirí Bulfin in 1967 and has been acting in their productions ever since, from their home in the Damer Theatre to every corner of the island. The Irish Theatre Institute said of Aisteoirí Bulfin that their “body of work is deemed to be of particular significance as Aisteoirí Bulfin was the only theatre company in Dublin providing new writing and productions in Irish for many years and because the company has continued to produce Irish language work consistently for over forty years.” Another landmark for Micheál was playing opposite Gabriel Byrne in the film Byrne wrote for the launch of TG4 in 1996. Since then he has been active in film and television as well as theatre, most recently working on Ireland’s first real monster movie Grabbers and with the Irish director of the moment, John Carney. He is fluent in both Irish and English and performs regularly in both languages.
